for families & caregivers

Thinking about opening your home to a child?

That thought, however quiet it may be right now, is how every foster journey begins. You don't have to figure it out alone. This page is a safe place to start.

you're not alone

Strong children are raised by supported caregivers.

Foster parents, adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, grandparents, guardians: the people who say "yes" to a child deserve encouragement and real, practical help. That's what Unbreakable Kids is here for.

Whether you're just curious, in the middle of the licensing process, or already have a child in your home, we'll meet you where you are: with honest answers, essential resources, and a community that shows up.

An honest note before you start

Unbreakable Kids is a community support nonprofit. We are not a licensing or placement agency. Becoming a foster or adoptive parent in Florida happens through the state's official child-welfare partners listed below. We're here for everything around that journey: preparation, encouragement, resources, and belonging.

Questions families ask us

Does Unbreakable Kids place children with families?
No. Foster licensing and placement in Florida happen through the Department of Children and Families and its lead agencies: Citrus Family Care Network in Miami-Dade & Monroe, and ChildNet in Broward & Palm Beach. We support families before, during, and after that journey.
I'm just curious about fostering. Is it too early to reach out?
It's never too early. Many caregivers start with a single conversation. We're happy to share what we've learned and point you to the official first steps, with zero pressure.
I'm a grandparent or relative raising a child. Can you help?
Yes. Kinship caregivers are a big part of who we serve. Our family support, holiday assistance, and essential-resource programs are for you too.
What does your support cost?
Nothing. Our programs exist to lift families up, funded by donors, volunteers, and community partners.
How do I get connected?
Send us a note through the contact page. Choose "Support for my foster or kinship family" and a member of our team will reach out, usually within one to two business days.
